Work in field of literacy : The Name is Khemchandbhai Prjapati but popularly known as "The Bapu with Rug."
Left the home and family since last 17-18 years & begging in Mehsana. Begging activity or as a beggar he doesnt need anything for himself but for the education of poor children. Till date he has supported more than 2500 girls in 13-14 different schools, with Books, Notebooks, School Bag, Uniform, Cloth & Sweater.
He is a physically handicapped but with the help of his tricycle he begs in front of Jain Temple, Hanuman Temple, Saibaba Temple & other places. He bags for 12-14 hours daily for these poor children.
He says that is unsure what he gets in begging. Sometimes he gets big amount & sometimes empty handed goes home. But very modestly he says that whatever I get, distribute everything. He has never kept the track or details of amount he donated.

Social Impact : Rich & Influence people dont tend to donate, but the Khemchandbhai left his happy family & became beggar voluntarily. The entire amount received in begging has been donated to the students of Govt. school.
In the society, parents are ready to spend any amount on the boy child, but hesitate to give education to girl child. Boys go to private school with big fees, whereas girls are admitted to public schools. Khemchandbhai supports these types of girls education with any amount required. Children of the families with habit of alcohol has been supported by him with all the needs. He convinced the alcoholic parents & sent their 500 kids back to school.
This humane work has been reported by "Times of India", "Gujarat Samachar", "Sandesh" & Divya Bhaskar" & taken a note of it.

This Award is going to impact the work in future : Khemchandbhai is a live illustration of the society who supports the education of poor by collecting money threw begging for 12-14 hours daily though handicapped.
By receiving this award, the activities he is doing gets boosted & will be inspired a lot. More & more people will come out to support him in his noble cause.
So more children will get the benefit of education & go to schools. Rotary will also get the momentum for its Literacy mission.
